Grape Leaf Oval Baker
Grape leaves, stems and tendrils form the handles on this large oval baking dish. The glaze here is my favorite but a tricky one. It requires a slow cooling process to obtain the turquoise that floats in the green.

Blue Oval Baker
This oval baking dish holds about 3 quarts. A bit of ochre glaze on the rim caused some interesting drip patterns as it ran.

Grape Leaf Butter Dish
I suppose this isn’t the most practical design for a butter dish that would be kept in the fridge, but it’s so much more fun to use with company! It took me a few tries to figure out the proportions, allowing for the shrinkage of the clay, yet ending up with enough room for a stick of butter.

Grape Sgrafitto Jar
Sgrafitto is one of my favorite techniques. I used a bright blue slip on this jar made from my toasty brown clay. After carving away the blue in the negative spaces and bisque firing the pot, I glazed it with a translucent white that toned down the bright blue so that it matches my kitchen perfectly!

Ochre Garlic Keeper
Thank you dear friend Jean Burnett for this garlic keeper idea! Throwing a completely enclosed shape has been a good challenge for me. When the pot is leatherhard, I cut out the shapes in the lid and made an asymmetrical cut to separate the lid from the body. The waves and notches of this cut keep the lid from sliding off. I used 2 of my cutouts to create a knob with a splash!
